Bill and Melinda Gates Announce Divorce After 27 Years Of Marriage
Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda are ending their marriage after 27 years.
The couple made the announcement via Twitter on Monday, May 3, saying “we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple”.
“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the pair tweeted.
Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, met Melinda French after she started working at Microsoft in 1987.
The two married on Jan. 1, 1994, and have three children.
They jointly run the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The organisation has spent billions fighting causes such as infectious diseases and encouraging vaccinations in children.
The news of their marriage breakup has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
