‘We Will Resist Every Attempt To Ban Twitter In Nigeria’ -Reactions As FG Suspends Twitter Operations

There is an uproar on social media as the Federal government has reportedly suspended the operations of the microblogging platform, Twitter in Nigeria.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this via a statement issued by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Segun Adeyemi on Friday.

“The Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria,” the statement read.

The Minister cited the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

Nigerians have taken to social media to react to this news.

I don’t think anybody should take this ban of Twitter in Nigeria news seriously. These clowns don’t even have the technological requirements to implement it. Let them start with tracking down the bandits and Boko Haram terrorists first.
