DSS relaxes restriction on media coverage as anxiety mounts on Sunday Igboho’s aides bail ruling

Operatives of the Department of the State Service, DSS, on Monday in Abuja relaxed security on the media coverage of the detained aides of the Yoruba secessionist leader, Sunday Igboho.

Unlike previous proceedings, the coverage of today’s proceedings by the media was done in a peaceful and friendly manner.

Although not all journalists gained access to the courtroom due to space constraints and COVID-19 protocol, entering the court was done without any harassment or molestation.

It was observed that the leader of the operatives whose name could not be ascertained demonstrated maturity and high level of understanding that made the coverage hitch-free.

Heavily armed operatives at the entrance to the courtroom we’re seen allowing media men accessing the courtroom upon identification by their leadership.

Counsel to the DSS Mr Idowu Awo also played a vital role in ensuring that there was no exchange of hot words or argument as witnessed in the past proceedings.

Meanwhile, there is apprehensions among the 4 suspects whose bail applications were opposed by the DDS on the ground of further interrogation after 32 days in DDS custody.

At the time of this report, Justice Obiora Egwuatu is being awaited for his ruling on the bail application.
