It’s a girl! Princess Beatrice has given birth to newest royal baby

Princess Beatrice has given birth to her daughter at a London hospital, the latest of a growing brood of royal youngsters.

She and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are yet to publicly reveal what they will call her but said the baby was born on Saturday shortly before midnight.

They confirmed the Queen and Beatrice’s father Prince Andrew have been informed and are said to be ‘delighted’.

The duke was reportedly considering making the 500 mile dash from Balmoral to London to be by her side for the birth.

The baby, who is 11th in line to the throne, is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild, and the second to be born since the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, following the arrival of the Sussexes’ daughter Lili in June.

The princess and millionaire property tycoon Mr Mapelli Mozzi married in July 2020 in a secret lockdown wedding attended by the Queen and Philip after their planned ceremony was postponed because of the pandemic.

Beatrice is the eldest daughter of the Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, with the baby being the Yorks’ second grandchild.

Mr Mapelli Mozzi has another child, Christopher Woolf, 5, from a previous relationship.

In a tweet from her official Twitter account, Beatrice said she was ‘delighted’ to ‘share the news of the safe arrival’ of the couple’s daughter, adding: ‘Thank you to the midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care.’

The full statement read: ‘Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

‘The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces.
