Nollywood stakeholders protest alleged intellectual property theft by Lagos hotel

Nollywood practitioners on the platform of Audio Visual Rights Society (AVRS) today protested the alleged illegal use of their intellectual property by a hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.

Leading Nollywood stars including Jide Kosoko, Fred Amata, Yemi Solade and Mahmood Alli-Balogun were spotted at a non-violent protest at Radisson Blu Hotel situated on Isaac John Street, Ikeja, GRA. Lagos.

Other movie stars spotted at the protest are Yinka Akanbi, Grace Amah, Ejike Asiegbu and Sunny McDon as well as movie producers and directors.

Speaking about the reason for their protest, AVRS boss, Alli-Balogun, said the hospitality outfit has refused to pay for use of their intellectual properties in their different branches.

He further stated that negotiations with the management of the hospitality outfit has met brick walls, leading to the protest.

Alli-Balogun also alleged that the hospitality outfit owes the copyright collective society to the tune of N50 million.
