Nigerian Defeats 12 Other Candidates To Be Re-Elected Councillor In Canada

 Ajibola Abitoye has been re-elected as a councillor in the city of Fort Saskatchewan, Province of Alberta in Canada.

Abitoye popularly called Jibs, first won the election in 2017 five years after her immigration from Nigeria.

She won her constituency seat at the October 18 election where she slugged it out with 12 other white candidates.

Taking to her Facebook page, Jibs expressed gratitude to the people of Fort Saskatchewan for giving her the opportunity to serve them for another four years.

She noted that she was honoured and humbled for being given the trust to represent Fort Saskatchewan again.

In her words: “Thank you Fort Saskatchewan for another 4 years to serve you as your city councillor.

I’m both honoured and humbled that you have again placed your trust in me to continue representing you. I am deeply moved by the expression of confidence and I am very much grateful.”

 

Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Jibs, a graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos is married with three children.
