Some politicians planning to thwart fourth republic from Oyo – Ex-SSG, Alli

A former Secretary to Oyo State Government, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has raised an alarm that some politicians have concluded plans to thwart the present democratic dispensation in the country.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain alleged that the individuals have decided to thwart the nation’s democracy from Oyo State.

Alli made these disclosures via a statement made available to newsmen on Monday.

Our correspondent gathered that the present democratic dispensation christened the fourth republic started in 1999.

Alli, who served as Secretary to the Oyo State Government during the administration of Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja between 2003 and 2007, has alleged that those who want to thwart the democracy have concluded plans to use APC in the state as the launchpad to derail the nation’s democracy.

Our correspondent recalls that the power tussle over the control of the party has been the source of crisis in the party.

APC had its state congress on Saturday, 30th October 2021. But, the party has been moving from one crisis to the other due to alleged manipulation of the delegates list.

Alli, while speaking, said that those who intend to ruin the democracy are the ones causing the crisis in Oyo APC.

He said, “We are suspecting some individuals are planning to thwart the current democracy from Oyo State. We won’t allow this. We are watching the roles of suspected members of opposition parties in the crisis rocking our party in Oyo State.

“We are on guard. We have done the necessary things to protect our democracy. Nigeria as a nation must not derail from the current political dispensation. There are some key political players who are to be blamed for the challenges we are facing in the party but we shall overcome these challenges soon. I, therefore, plead with our loyal party members to remain calm.

“We are now using this opportunity to warn those working against the interest of our party to be mindful and desist from this. Nigeria is bigger than any individual who is planing its downfall”.
