Nigeria so divided… my experience as pastor will foster unity, says NNPP VP candidate

Isaac Idahosa, vice-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), says he will use his experience as a pastor to promote unity.

Idahosa spoke on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television.

On July 14, Rabiu Kwankwaso, NNPP presidential candidate, picked Idahosa, who is the general overseer of God First Ministry, as his running mate for the election.

Speaking about his plans for the country, the cleric said he has managed people from different ethnic backgrounds, adding that he will bring that knowledge to bear if his party wins.

“I have been a pastor for the past 33 years. There is what we called church politicking — that is to say after your spiritual assignment, you deal with the people across the nooks and crannies. You have the Igbo, the Edo, the Kanuri in church and you have to manage them,” the cleric said.

“You have to learn how to manage people and their resources as a pastor. This will come to bear, especially where Nigeria today is so divided. There is no trust at all. So, I’m coming with the healing. When I mean healing — the healing together of a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious nation.

“You have a nation to be able to run with. We need peace and, of course, you do know that where there is no peace, progress cannot be enforced no matter what you try. That is why we are trusting God to help us get involved in this ticket to be able to foster this co-existence.

“I’m in it to be able to foster co-existence between the Christian world, the Muslim world, and other religious sects.”
