We’ll punish corps members lobbying for rejection letters –NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned corps members against inducing their employers to reject them when deployed by the scheme.

Shuaibu Ibrahim, NYSC’s director-general (DG), spoke on Monday while briefing the 2021 batch ‘B’ stream II corps members and camp officials via a nationwide virtual address.

In a statement shared by Adenike Adeyemi, NYSC’s spokesperson, quoted the DG as saying corps members should accept their posting in good faith and contribute their quota to the development of their host communities.

According to Ibrahim, any corps member caught inducing posting or redeployment would be sanctioned in line with NYSC bye-laws.

The NYSC DG also warned corps members against unauthorised traveling after their orientation camp.

“Once you get to your place of primary assignment tomorrow, don’t put pressure on your employers for rejection,” he said.

“Don’t lobby anyone that you want to change your posting or relocation. If they write to us that you induced or forced them to reject you, you will be punished.

 “As patriotic corps members, it is expected that you accept posting to anywhere you have been posted to and add value to the community.”

He enjoined the corps members to be patriotic in the service to their fatherland and ensure they add value to themselves, the scheme, and the society at large.
