Will Smith ‘Going To Therapy’ After Infamous Slap

Will Smith has sought help in the wake of his infamous slap of Chris Rock at the Academy Awards.

Smith, 53, ‘has been going to therapy after the Oscars incident,’ a source told Entertainment Tonight Thursday of the actor, who made international headlines for his outburst toward the 57-year-old comedian at the March 27 event at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

The Oscars exchange between Smith and Rock took place after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

The Ali star subsequently took to Instagram on March 28 and called himself ‘a work in progress’ after saying his behavior at the Oscars was ‘unacceptable and inexcusable.’

He said, ‘I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong.’

The Men in Black actor alluded to Rock in a statement he issued April 1 as he resigned from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (which later banned him from the Oscars for 10 years).

‘The list of those I have hurt is long,’ Smith said, ‘and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home.’
