Dubai rainstorm leaves one de*d, many stranded in airport
The recent superstorm in Dubai has caused chaos and devastation, resulting in at least one de*d and leaving tourists stranded at the world’s busiest airport for international travel.
Torrential rain led to severe flooding across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with Dubai International Airport (DXB) experiencing significant disruptions. Passengers were forced to sleep on the airport floor as flights were delayed or cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
The storm brought historic levels of rainfall, surpassing anything seen since records began in 1949. Roads surrounding the airport were submerged, and even some luxury cars were seen “floating” through the flooded streets. The airport suspended operations temporarily, diverting inbound flights and cancelling others.
This extreme weather event is rare in the UAE, and experts attribute it to climate change, which can lead to more intense rainfall and flooding.
Authorities are urging residents and travelers to take preventive measures and exercise caution amid the continuing inclement weather.
