Book author battles with brain cancer

Sophie Kinsella, the author known for the “Shopaholic” series, has shared that she’s battling brain cancer.

“I’ve been wanting to tell you about my health, but it took me a while to gather the courage,” she shared on Instagram.

She was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer, at the end of 2022. Kinsella kept it private initially to help her children adjust to the news.

Living in the UK, she’s receiving treatment at a London hospital and has had surgery, radiotherapy, and ongoing chemotherapy.

While she’s generally feeling okay, she gets tired easily and struggles with her memory.

Kinsella, also known as Madeleine Wickham, has sold over 45 million books worldwide in more than 40 languages. Her character Becky Bloomwood from “Shopaholic” even made it to the big screen in 2009.

Isla Fisher, who played Becky, sent her love and support on Instagram.

Kinsella thanked her family, friends, doctors, nurses, and readers for their support during this tough time, especially as she released her latest book, “The Burnout,” in October.
